St. John residents reunited with pets after weeks apart

WMUR SIOBHAN LOPEZ WAS AT THE AIRPORT WITH MORE ON THIS REUNION.>>THIS IS HUGE, I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. SIOBHAN: THEY HAVE BEEN SEPARATED FOR WEEKS, BUT THE ST. JOHN RESIDENTS ARE REUNITED WITH THEIR BELOVED PETS. SOME HAD LEFT THE ISLAND BEFORE THE STORM, OTHERS EVACUATED DAYS AFTER IRMA HIT LEAVING THEIR ANIMALS AT THE SHELTER IN ST. JOHN, OR WITH A VET.>>I KNEW THEY WERE SAFER WITH THEM THAN THEY WERE WITH ME. SIOBHAN: THIS COUPLE RESCUED THEIR CAT AND ARE TAKING IN A SECOND ONE.>>THEY BECAME HURRICANE BUDDIES AND WE CANNOT STAND TO SEPARATE THEM. SIOBHAN: NOT ALL OF THE ANIMALS BROUGHT HERE TONIGHT ARE GOING HOME WITH OWNERS. SOME OF THEM ARE HEADED TO LOCAL SHELTERS.>>DUE TO AN ORGANIZATION CALLED GREATER GOOD, THESE ANIMALS ARE GETTING A SECOND CHANCE AND THEY HAVE LEFT ST. JOHN TO FIND HOMES HERE IN THE UNITED STATES. SIOBHAN: INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR ANIMAL WELFARE TRAILERS WILL BRING 34 CATS. ANYONE INTERESTED IN ADOPTION CAN VISIT THEM THERE. THE DOGS REMEMBER THEIR OWNERS AND THEIR OLD TRICKS. EVERYONE IS GRATEFUL FOR THE SUPPORT OF ALL OF THE ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED AND I LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO ST. JOHN.>>IT WAS LIKE, I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE IT. IT WAS LIKE A DREAM FOR SO LONG.>>YOU JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO
