Sacramento Ballet’s ‘Nutcracker’ integrates shelter pets


THEY WERE FIGHTING WAVES AND 40 MILE AN HOUR WINDS. 40 HOMELESS ANIMALS NOW HAVE FOREVER FAMILIES . EDIE LAMBERT IS HERE WITH SOME GREAT PICTURES OF AN UNUSUAL PARTNERSHIP. YOU WOULD NOT EXPECT TO SEE SHELTER MUTTS LIKE THIS GUY ON STAGE. THE VALLEY IS PERFORMING THE NUTCRACKER. MRS. ALEXANDER CUNNINGHAM. THE NUTCRACKER ALL ABOUT SWEETS AND THIS PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY AND THE FRONT STREET SHELTER COULD NOT BE SWEETER. THIS IS IN THE PROLOGUE SCENE AND THE PARTY SCENE FEATURES A KITTEN. ADOPTION COUNSELORS ARE IN THE LOBBY WITH FIVE OR 10 ANIMALS. SO FAR THEY HAVE ADOPTED OUT EVERY ANIMAL FEATURED. THE GOAL IS TO HIGHLIGHT SHELTER PET ADOPTION BUT DO IT IN PLACES WHERE SHELTER ANIMALS HAVE NEVER BEEN PRESENTED AND IN WAYS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FEATURED. THE SHELTER HOPES THESE PEOPLE THINK THE HOMELESS ANIMALS ARE JUST AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE DANCERS. THERE ARE SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES COMING UP. 40 HAVE IN ADOPTED.
