Pet Questions: Are plants poisonous for pets?

PET QUESTIONS THIS AFTERNOON. STRUTTING AS IS DR. KIM HAMMOND
FROM FALLS ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL. AND ONE CRAZY DOG. DR. HAMMOND: THIS IS PUBBY. THIS IS A SPANIEL, PODLE MIX —
A SPANIEL POODLE MIX. A FUN.. AND HE IS REALLY SMART. HE KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON. GREAT DOG. LISA: BUT THEY TOLD ME TO WATCH
OUT. [LAUGHTER]
DR. HAMMOND: BUT HE IS FRIENDLY. JUST LIKE THIS. JUST HAS NO BREAKS. [LAUGHTER]
LISA: LET’S GET TO THE
QUESTIONS. MY CATS PLAY WITH MY NEW LILLIE
PLANT. ARE THEY POISONOUS? DR. HAMMOND: THIS IS SOMETHING. THIS IS SERIOUS. THE ARE PINE LEAF — THEY ARE
TYING LEAF POISONOUS. SOMETIMES CATS WILL LICK IT OR
BITE IT. ANYTHING THEY LICK OR BITE, THEY
ARE OBLIGATED TO SWALLOW. AND THOSE CAN CHILLY CAT. THEY CAN CREATE LIFE-THREATENING
KIDNEY DISEASE. IF YOU HAVE A CAT, NO LILIES
INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. IF THEY DO, CALL FALLS ROAD
ANIMAL HOSPITAL IN AN INSTEAD. LISA: OK. EVERY SPRING I FIND A BABY BIRD
, THAT’S FALLEN FROM ITS NEST. WHAT CAN I FEED IT? DR. HAMMOND: THIS IS KIND OF
INTERESTING. LITTLE BABY BIRDS CAN IMPRINT
AND WILL FOLLOW YOU AROUND. THAT IS GOOD AND BAD. IT IS KIND OF DANGEROUS TO PLAY
WITH BABY BIRDS IN THE SENSE
THEY DON’T LEARN HOW TO VOCALIZE
PROPERLY. THEY DON’T LEARN PROPER BIRD
BEHAVIORS. WHAT DO YOU FEED THEM? THERE IS A COMPANY THAT MAKES
BABY BIRD FORMULA. I PUT IT ON THE WBAL WEBSITE. YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU CAN GET
THE FOOD AND HOW TO FEED BABY
BIRDS. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL. MY SUGGESTION IS IF YOU SEE BABY
BIRDS, CALL THE ANIMAL HOSPITAL. OR YOU WILL HAVE A BABY BIRD
FOLLOWING YOU. I HAD ONE THAT FOLLOWED ME ALL
THROUGH THE EXAM ROOM.
