Hopping mad: Swedish showjumping rabbits bounce into action

Horses, move aside, there’s some new show
jumpers in town. Prepare to go ‘hopping mad’ for these adorable
rabbits from Sweden. You heard correctly, but these are not your
average bunnies about town. The rabbits have flown in to compete in the Grand National
of the pet world – rabbit show jumping. The ‘Bouncing Bunnies of Sweden’ will hop
into action this weekend, at London’s Earls Court, going head-to-head in the new spectator
sport. Bunnies are cute animals and you want to do
something with them and they are happy and like to jump over stuff so it’s just the natural
way for them to do and then we started a sport with it. It has been in Sweden for about 20
years and around the world in the gardens but as a sport in Sweden it’s 20 years. Now in its third year, the Rabbit Grand National
will see rabbit lovers showcase their pets’ speed and agility by hopping over hurdles,
all in support of Rabbit Awareness Week. The campaign hopes to help pet owners improve
rabbit welfare and encourage bunny lovers to make changes in their rabbit care routine. Well-groomed and poised for victory, when
it comes to show jumping, it looks like these bunnies certainly know how to hop to it.

  1. Often see Rabbits in small cages, Rabbits should be able to move around more than what a lot of owners allow them to.
