Garden & Lawn Pest Control : How to Rid a Home of Pantry Moths or Weevils

Hi this is Yolanda from Vanveen bulbs dot
com. In this segment we are going to talk about how to rid your home of pantry moths
and weevils. Now I’ve only had experience one time when I opened a box of rice and there’s
these little black gray larvae all inside of it. And it was just disgusting. So I threw
the box away immediately. And I really haven’t had a problem in my home since then. But there’s
a few rules that I followed to make sure that no moths or weevils or bugs get in to my food.
So first of all, you know I don’t have a big issue with it now, so I leave crackers wide
open. But always close it. But if I were to find bugs in any of my packaging then I would
go through and I would throw pretty much anything that’s open I would throw it out. And if it’s
still closed or if I find no evidence and it’s something that I wanted to keep, I throw
it right into the freezer for three days. So to make sure that you have no bugs at all
in your pantry always whenever you bring new foods stuffs in the house too, throw it in
your freezer for three days and you’ll find if there were any bugs in it they are now
gone. Another trick is to always keep all of your food stuff in plastic containers that
are sealed very tightly. You can always use glass containers as well. But that way no
weevils or moths can get in and actually lay the eggs that make the weevils. And that’s
an easy trick. Most importantly just go through your drawers and clean everything out. Take
everything out of our drawers wipe it down with bleach water and make sure there’s not
a single crumb existing. So you’ll find that pantry moths and weevils if they have no food,
they will move on. And they will not invade your cabinets. It’s easy to do and it’s easy
to maintain just make sure freeze everything and keep them in plastic.
