Experts Divided Over Mysterious Big Black Cat Spotted In Mississippi

a Mississippi man was left scratching his head when he spotted what appears to be a massive black cat walking through a field and even experts can't agree on what he saw the strange encounter took place as David's lewd air was pulling into a Wendy's restaurant in the city of Hernando and noticed something amiss in the distance after initially thinking that perhaps he was watching a deer or a coyote he realized that the creature was actually a very large black cat having never seen such a thing before he smartly took out his cell phone and captured some footage of the big cat stalking through some tall grass according to david sluder he was around 75 to 100 yards away from the creature when he filmed it which may provide some perspective on the felines size the nature of the big cat is apparently the source of some controversy in the state of Mississippi as different officials and departments have expressed wildly different opinions an expert with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife was quick to dismiss the mystery feline as simply a house cat and asserted that the pointed shape of the creatures ears confirmed that conclusion however the City and County Animal Control offices beg to differ saying that the creature is the much more dangerous mountain lion and are currently on the lookout for the big cat those who wait the world says move or move aside which is what Drexel students take that is an absolutely enormous something over there I mean it's a cat but this thing is Jack games are emerging everyday Drexel gives their fire a place to burn a hundred yards away from this camera because ambition I don't know what kind of cat it is you can't wait Equifax the credit bureau breached but this thing is huge your personal data exposed retire that the AI agent art fits in my awards a crime wave called home title fraud may be coming the Equifax breach likely explodes your home's title and Loan records cyber thieves can see the equity you have in your home and they want it and because everything's online they

  1. I moved to Florida when I was 20 and drove down and stopped at a gas station in South Carolina and saw a. Black panther was the craziest thing I ever saw. And no one ever believes me but idgaf me and another older lady saw it and literally had that did you fucking see that too moment so me and her know and that shit was nuts

  2. You never know what creatures are hiding in the cities. If you see deer you know that predators will be close by

  3. The problem here is that there is nothing else near the cat to help give us some perspective to determine size. The photographer claims he is 75 to 100 yards away but most people are terrible at judging distance. 100 yards is a football field, people. IMHO, this does not appear to be 100 yards away. I'd say not enough info here to make an accurate identification but this cat looks too lean to be a jaguar. It has more the build of a puma/cougar or a house cat.

  4. I live in the Western U.S. where Mountain Lions or Cougars as they are sometimes called are a fairly common sight to see.
Whatever breed of cat this is captured on video is not a Mountain Lion.

  5. OMG…I cannot fathom how otherwise-intelligent human beings can believe this is a "black panther." First of all, "black panthers" DO NOT EXIST and NEVER HAVE. Period. A very quick look into animal science will prove that to anyone willing to read. What are called "black panthers" are either melanistic (dark pigmented) leopards in Africa and Asia, or melanistic jaguars in South America. NEVER – not once – has there been ONE confirmed melanistic case of the only big cat in North America: the mountain lion, aka puma, aka cougar. So that creature on the film CANNOT be a black cougar, because there aren't any. Don't believe me. Look it up among SCIENTISTS, not someone who claims to have seen one. Secondly, that playful animal in the field is SO CLEARLY a domesticated house cat, and I've been to that EXACT spot (I'm from the town where this video was taken) and it's not anywhere near "75 to 100 yards" from the camera to the cat. It's about HALF that. I walked it. And, finally, if there is ONE big cat in an area, there have to be more. You have to have a breeding population. And after a year and a half, not a single additional sighting has occurred, even though many people put together "search parties." And if it were an escaped pet, the owner would be known, for 100% certain. Hernando, MS is a very small southern town. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone gossips!!

  6. I saw that same cat driving south down the Southern NJ Turnpike in a field off to the right from about 100 yards. This happened maybe 20 years ago.

  7. Stupid people. It's NOT black. Probably a cougar, but judging from it's behavior it's a released or escaped animal. NOT BLACK. People suck as witnesses. Even when there is video they STILL get it wrong.

  8. Bullshit!! Those cats are everywhere in the south. Panthers and believe it or not some type of mountain lions were discovered in the marshes in Slidell. But I've had friends in Mississippi just over the state line that had a black panther in his front yard. He never moved and it slowly slinked off into the woods.

  9. Where I’m from these are called Black Panthers…actually Florida Black Panther….we always heard about the panthers in Fla. some on this comment section say there’s no such thing…but there is.

  10. That tall uncut grass is at least about a foot high do some basic math here people, that thing is at least close to 3 feet long and a foot and a half high to be conservative about it. I dont know many house cats with their ass almost two feet off the ground.

  11. We do have them here on upper south Carolina but in the low country we have coyotes because they get ran from their native habitats on other states . I think that's the problem with this panther . They most likely aren't native to that area .

  12. I was visiting mira Louisiana and when I was outside on the phone I promise you i seen the exact cat with light eyes staring right at me. I could see his whole body I ran in the house and told my elders they have black cats. She said girl no that was deer I said no it wasent it was a big cat I know I'm not crazy.

  13. This guy is recording. I would have been gone. This cat will map you in no time, not something to admire in the wild.

  14. Smoking a cigarette one night outside of Ft. Smith Arkansas. Seen one of these big cats walk across my yard. I wasted that cig and went inside.

  15. There are 3 possibilities for what that animal is:
    1. a black leopard (which is possible, once leopards can live in cold enviroments such as the ones you find in America)
    2. a black jaguar (only possible if this was recorded in the states in the South, where jaguars still roam around)
    3. a jaguarundi cat or "gato mourisco" (this would be my guess)

  16. Look at the treated timber (probably an 8ft. landscape timber) on the edge of the driveway. Look at the mowed lawn, then the rough cut grass, then the un-mowed meadow. You would not even see a normal size house cat in that grass. Someday, it will be discovered, and admitted by the DNR, large black cats do exist, and have been around all along. What a beautiful creature. Leave them alone please.

  17. Seeing is believing and I seen a panther/mt lion on Friday December 7 in Copiah Co Mississippi while hunting.

  18. He is more like 60 yards away it seems but that is certainly not a house cat, it's a giant black cat so puma, cougar whichever is big and black, that's what it is.

  19. I went fishing with my grandpa in a bayou in south lousianna and I saw one clear as day as I got my grandpa's attention it had moved into the thicker. No one believes me and that sucks because I know for sure I saw a black jaguar
