ENN: Students prepare their pets for Hurricane Florence

with hurricane Florence on its way some students are wondering what to do with their pets our grace Morris has more information sophomore Imogen Thompson and her horse chairman are riding out the storm not really what I expected in my first month of owning a horse Thompson considered leaving the Elan area to get away from hurricane Florence but decided she needed to stay to take care of chairman who lives at a local bar ninny lon you know now this is like all on me so at first I wasn't sure whether I needed to evacuate him what I needed to get him back to New Jersey or somewhere safe but while chairman has a home not all animals do a member of Elan Animal Rescue a club on campus contacted sophomore Nicky Gupta about the need for animals in the Burlington Animal Services shelter to be fostered during the hurricane I think it'd be really scary if I didn't have a home and there'd be a hurricane I wouldn't want to go through that myself Gupta and her roommate Kelsey Manzano picked up five cats from the shelter and her fostering two of them the others are staying with other students on their hall while Gupta was happy to take the kittens she admits it it's more work than she thought it would be a lot of responsibility I can't even take care of myself so taking care of another precious creature like this I think they deserve a better owner and Manzano agrees especially since she was hesitant about sheltering the cats in the first place I get way too attached way too easily and I know like my heart will just be in pieces when I have to give him back but no matter what pets you have or where your pets are Thompson says it's hard not to worry about them in situations like this you're always so while you're preparing for the hurricane make sure you get your pets prepared as well grace morris elan news network the five kittens at Manzano and Gupta are caring for all up for adoption and can be adopted for ten dollars which includes spaying neutering and vaccines if you want to adopt call burlington animal services at three three six five seven eight oh three four three
